Rapper DMX recently discussed his road to recovery explaining how he has now turned a new leaf after his recent substance abuse problem.

DMX real name Earl Simmons explained to KPLR 11 that he is cleaning up his act in order to pass on his experiences with others so that they do not make the same mistakes in life that he has done.

“There were times where it appeared I had nothing to hold onto. Nothing to help me get through that. I’m a man of faith, and it’s good to know there are others out there like me,” he said. “Be grateful for the fact that you can see clearly. I appreciate the continued support, and I’m sure you have noticed, but I will never let you down in terms of the message and the delivery of the message. It’ll always be honest, it’ll always be to the point and it’ll always be uncompromised.”

DMX discussed his appearance on Dr. Drew’s show “Lifechangers,” where he gave words of wisdom to a young man who needed help to get his own life back on track. The Ruff Ryder was more than happy to help the man explaining that he is always looking for opportunities to help others.

“I was on there because hopefully, I was able to change somebody’s life and be a positive influence. Because there are so many negative things said. People don’t know the real me. Those are types of things that I not only enjoy doing, but I do them on the regular. I don’t do it for the fame, I don’t do it for the publicity. I do it because it needs to be done. So it’s great to have that side of me shown.”
