R&B soul singer MusiqSoulChild has announced that he will be stepping away from the mic for a while and will be behind the scenes writing and producing for other artists. Musiq said in a recent interview that he enjoys singing but it takes him away from creating music:
“I’m not going to stop performing or being an artist. I do enjoy singing and all of that, but it takes away from being creative. At least with being a writer-producer you can constantly create and make music and things like that.“
The 34 year old Soul Star singer is already writing / producing for artists including Chrisette Michelle and YMCMB artist Bow Wow. As well as songwriting, Musiq is also working on his first book which is to be focused on love, relatonships and music. According to publishers DIP, the book should be released this summer.
Musiq, real name Taalib Johnson, made his debut in 2000 dropping his first album titled Aijuswanaseing. His first single Just Friends was placed in the comedy movie Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. With over 12 years experience in the music industry, Musiq has released 6 studio albums with hits including: Love , HalfCrazy, IfULeaveMe and Just Friends. His last album was released in 2011 titled MusiqInTheMagiq“
